CRAIG BROWN CBE (1940-2023)
/Walking Football Scotland mourns the loss of one of our patrons Craig Brown CBE.
Craig, a Scottish footballing legend, will be dearly missed by so many.
WFS President Kenny McLean, said: “It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of Craig Brown. He was a great supporter of walking football and understood the benefits for participants. Craig became our patron in December 2017 and gave much of his time to attend our Scottish Cup and Festival events.
His loss will be felt throughout the football world and the thoughts of Walking Football Scotland go to his family at this difficult time.”
Former WFS Chairman Gary McLaughlin, said: “Such a sad day today with the loss of Craig Brown, a strong supporter and Patron of Walking Football Scotland from the start. Craig was a friend, who was passionate about football, loved people and community and an advocate for health and well being, just some of the reasons that made him jump at the chance of assisting walking football in Scotland way back in 2017, when I asked him to come on board.
He had a fantastic sense of humour and was one of the nicest people I have known.
A tragic loss for our nation and our great game and my love and thoughts go out to the family and everyone who has been touched by this wonderful man.”
